The Sleeper Train

So, to get from Ha noi to Hoi An (I know, it's like someone's played boggle with the same five letters!) we decided to go for an experience. We took the sleeper train. Arriving at the station we were immediately greeted by a small Vietnamese man who proceeded to take our train tickets right from my hand!! I, of course, leaped into action throwing some ninja moves at his face and he ran away screaming... If only... I believe we actually just let out three girlish screams and attempted to run after him with our heavy rucksacks in toe.

All was fine, he was actually just showing us to the correct carriage, what a lovely man! We climbed aboard and searched for our beds - 21, 22 and 23. Expecting very little, we were pleasantly surprised with the sight that greeted us when we discovered what was to be our sleeping quarters for the night. Though the place felt like a constant earthquake and the tanoy announcing every station at peak volume wasn't great at 1:00 and 2:00 and 3:00... Anyway you get the picture! It was a pretty comfortable night! The views from the window as we grew closer and closer to Da Nang train station (only a 30 minute car journey to Hoi An) were gorgeous, right on the coat amidst lush greenery it was just what we needed after a 12 hour journey.

The sun shone down as we stepped from the train onto the platform and we knew we were going to like Hoi An!

Lots of love,
